Antidiabetic Potentials of Ethanol Extract of Timonius flavescens (Jacq.) Baker Leaf

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by heredity or deficiency in insulin secretion. This has occupied the second position as an epidemic Indonesia. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that nearly 70% of diabetic patients use plants main source antidiabetic agents. One used community for long time to lower blood sugar Timonius flavescens (family Rubiaceae). study aims determine content active compounds ethanol extract T. leaves using massspectrometry gas chromatography (GC-MS). results GC-MS showed there were more than 40 compounds, then 10 them had highest value detected having agent properties. These include (3β)- stigmast-5-en-3-ol, 3β.-(acetyloxy)-15.-hydroxy- 5..-cholesta-8(14),9(11)-dien-7-one, alpha-tocopherol, hexade-canoic acid, nonanoic phytol, 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran, heptanoic neophytadiene, and campesterol which have been shown this are expected provide criticalinformation researchers public regarding medicine.
